History

History of the College

        Government Arts and Science College, Nagalapuram was started as Manonmaniam Sundaranar University Model Constituent College (Co-educational) on July 18, 2011 in a temporary building (Closed Match Factory) on the Nagalapuram  – Vilathikulam  Road vide Go. Ms, No. 35 dt 08.02.2011

        The College was shifted to the 19 acre Goundampatti Campus (6.4 acres donated by Mr. S. Ramamoorthy Nayakar). The ground floor was constructed by the magnanimous donation of Rs.50,00,000 by the Nagalapuram  Vattara  Kalvi Valarchi Kuzhu  under Self Sufficient Scheme. The first floor was constructed by the Contribution of Rs.1,00,00,000 by The Tuticorin VOC Port Trust. This building was declared open on 08.03.2017 by the Honourable Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu Edappadi K. Palanisamy through Video Conference.

        The New building of the College was constructed with a sum of Rs.7,25,00,000 under RUSA scheme and was declared open on 02.02.2018 by the Honourable Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu Edappadi K. Palanisamy through Video Conference.

        The College was converted into Government Arts and Science College vide Higher Education GO. MS. No. 184 dated 11.12.2020.
