The NIRF was launched in the year 2015 by the Ministry of Human Resource Development at present known as the Ministry of Education. The National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) is an academic ranking system that ranks higher educational institutions in India. It is published by The Ministry of Education (MoE) annually. 

How NIRF work?

  • The NIRF ranks academic institutions using a set of leveling parameters. These parameters include of teaching, learning, resources, research and the outcomes of graduation. 
  • The NIRF ranks institutions such as arts, engineering, medicine, management and law. 
  • The NIRF report is made public to show the details of the metrics used to rank academic institutions.
